It was Jens who got the idea of crossing Siberia on a bicycle. The inspiration came from two sour-ces: Two adventurers experiences from a tour on motorcycles in the USSR and a lecture from Morten, who had been travelling in China on a bicycle.

Morten and Søren joined the pro-ject at an early stage and we started to collect information. In 1995 and 1996 that was still a very difficult task. Fridtjof Nan-sen's book "Through Siberia - The land of the future" from 1913 was one of the most updated books we could find.
